The First Intrax All-Programs Conference

Of the many perks of modern work culture, few are as consistently anticipated as the annual conference. It’s a mix of connection, reflection, and the chance to step outside the day-to-day. And if you’re lucky, it comes with a change of scenery.

Intrax is a unique organization made up of multiple programs, each with its own identity and history. Traditionally, those programs have gathered separately. AuPairCare, for example, held a lively conference in Arizona last year, complete with a memorable karaoke night. AYUSA brought its community together in San Francisco, where they screened their documentary, Marshall Goes West.

This year marked something new.

For the first time, Intrax brought all programs together for a single, shared conference in Las Vegas. Over the course of 72 hours, the event blended program highlights, team conversations, volunteer efforts, and time to connect across roles and regions. There were town halls, guest speakers including representatives from the U.S. Department of State, and a keynote from the Rainbow Warrior herself, former professional soccer player and advocate Joanna Lohman.

Bringing together teams that don’t often share the same space comes with a level of unpredictability. But early on, it became clear that this was the right move. Conversations flowed easily, connections formed quickly, and there was a shared sense of momentum that built throughout the event. It raised a simple question: why hadn’t we done this sooner?

One of the most meaningful outcomes was the exchange of ideas. Across programs with very different day-to-day work, common themes began to emerge. Strategies overlapped. What might normally stay siloed had the opportunity to surface and be shared. It created a clearer picture of how each program operates, and how much they have in common.

Cutting loose, dressed to impress

The conference closed with a formal dinner that balanced celebration with a sense of accomplishment. And while the setting was polished, the energy stayed true to the spirit of the event: open, engaged, and collaborative.

It’s also worth noting that an event of this scale was planned and executed entirely in-house. The amazing level of detail and coordination behind the scenes did not go unnoticed.

The team behind the scenes who made it all happen

As the conference came to a close and teams began heading home, there was a noticeable shift. What can sometimes feel like separate parts of a larger organization felt like a single, connected group moving in the same direction.

Here’s to the first Intrax all-programs conference and to what comes next.
